"I crowdfunded my baby"

As her finger hovered over her laptop, Rebecca Sweringen's hand shook with nerves. She was just one click away from launching an online fundraising campaign - but with a difference.

She wasn't looking for cash to start a new business or raising money for charity.

Instead, after 18 years of trying for a baby, Rebecca had decided her only option left was to crowdfund the IVF treatment she so desperately needed.

"I'd have given an arm and a leg to have a baby," says Rebecca, 42, an English teacher who lives in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

After an 18-year struggle to become a mum, Rebecca turned to strangers for help.

She shared her story with me.
